She's HERE!

Dallace Marie Watson
06/23/2009
6:14 a.m.
7 lbs 11 oz
22 inches

On Monday the 22nd I went in for a doctors appointment and my blood pressure had been relatively high the last few appointments leading the doctor to think I might have mild pre-eclampsia. After running a few tests the Friday before and then again on Monday he decided to send me on over to Labor & Delivery. After being monitored for a couple of hours they decided to go ahead and induce me. I wasn't ready at all for that. No bag packed (even though my sister-in-law, Ashley, had told me the night before I really should pack one). Husband at work & mom not arriving for two more days. But of course, her and I being healthy is the most important thing. I called Luke and told me we were having a baby, today! So, he left work right away and got there right after they admitted me. They started me on Pitocin about 2:00 in the afternoon and around 10:00 broke my water. After 8 hours I had only gone from 2 cm to 3 cm. Not a lot of progress. After they broke my water things progressed a bit faster. Around 5:30 I felt the need to push and sure enough I was between 9 1/2 cm and 10 cm and 100 % effaced. It was go time. We were all exhausted at this point, Luke had fallen asleep on the rolly chair next to my bed so I woke him up and told him it was time. I started pushing about 5:35 or 5:40 and Dallace was born at 6:15. She was absolutely perfect. She barely cried at all while the nurses weighed and measured her. Just a little cry every little bit to let them know she was cold. The second they put her on my chest is a moment I will NEVER forget. You can't prepare yourself at all for the overwhelming amount of love and joy you feel as when you see your child for the first time. Although I had never seen her before I instantly recognized her. Luke was able to hold it together during the whole birthing process..We only thought he would pass out a few times. But he even cut the cord! He cried. I cried. It was amazing. I can honestly say that this was the most amazing moment of my life thus far. I can't see anything else that could top it. I look forward to seeing how she grows (which is already too fast, just after one week there's been change). Dallace is the most beautiful baby I've ever seen and has already stolen the hearts of all those around her.

"morning" sickness..again, REALLY?

So, we have a bit over 2 weeks left of this pregnancy and somehow the "morning'' sickness that lasted all day everyday for the first 6 1/2 months has returned and is NOT holding back at all. For the past week or so I've been nauseous throughout the day-but only throwing up one or two times (the first battle with "morning" sickness was anywhere from 4-7 or even 8 times a day). As of this morning I feel like I've been kicked back 3 months. I can't even keep down a sip of water. The only thing that is and could make it worse..I'm having contractions every 4 or 5 minutes, and have figured out that throwing up is a lot worse during the middle of a contraction. I've decided I'm done with this whole pregnancy thing and Dallace should just come out..right now..well, at least today or tomorrow. Just needed to vent a little.

Slacker

I have been a MAJOR slacker in the blog world...until now. I am officially done with work and have nothing to do but wait for baby Dallace to get here so there are NO excuses for this thing not being up to date. So, here's an update for all of you!
There is quite a bit new with us: we went through the temple in April, We bought our first car, Luke started a new job, I quit mine, Tank leads a much more exciting life, and we are slowly but surely getting closer to meeting our daughter-Dallace Marie. I'll break it down for you a little bit more...

Brit & Dallace:
For about 3 weeks I had been having contractions off and on. I'm not talking braxton hicks, I mean hard to breathe every 3 minutes contractions. We went to the hospital twice where they proceeded to give me a shot of Terbutaline to stop the contractions. My OB told me to just hang in there till at least 36 weeks and after that
it would be perfectly safe to have her. I went to my doctor appointment today and I am 70 % effaced and 1 1/2 centimeters dilated. How exciting!! There actually is some kind of progress going on down there. Dr. Mulholland also set the date for me to be induced if she decides to not make her big appearance on her own, June 25th at 7:00 a.m. Now we wait. My mom won't be up here until the 23rd so, it'd be nice if she could hold out till then. We'll see.

Here is me at 36 weeks

Luke:

Luke started his new job out at Hanford a little over a month ago. Overall he is liking it. It's easy on him (he's just been training until now) and the schedule is perfect for family life. He quit the airport to go work out at the area and although he misses a few people he worked with out there he doesn't miss those 3:00 a.m. mornings in the slightest. He is really starting to get excited about little baby Dallace, too. He can't wait to see what she looks like but is still kind of freaked out when he can see or feel a foot stick out of my belly.

Here is Luke with our new car

Tank:
Tank is the happiest dog on the planet now that I'm home with him all day. He almost never has to go in his kennel. We go on walks and take naps. It's a pretty tough life, so he does get worn out and when given the opportunity will pass out anywhere he can..

Here he is on the couch
Here he is on the ground in front of the bed...too tired to jump on the bed

He could very well be sleeping behind my shades.

Here is on top of the couch...we woke him up..

So that's pretty much all that's new with us for now!

Thankful.

I find myself feeling extremely grateful these days and I think that needs to be expressed more.

I am so lucky. These are just a few reasons:

1. I met the most amazing man.

Luke makes me laugh no matter how sad, mad, tired, or sick I may be. He loves me with absolutely all of his heart. Does anyone really know how rare this kind of love is? He wakes me up in the middle of the night just to cuddle and give me a kiss. He works 2 jobs while going to school to make a future for our little family. He is so tired from all of it, and he still volunteers to help his family, no questions asked, on his only "day off" (he still usually has 2 or 3 hours of homework, plus a 3 hour shift at the airport). He will be the best father a child could ask for. I know he's nervous about it, now, but I just know he will be the perfect example. I just wish I could find a way to show him just how much I love him. I miss him, literally the second he leaves and I still get that little flutter in my stomach when I see him, get a call, or text from him. I could never say enough about him. I just hope one day he some inkling of how much he means to me.

2. We both have jobs in this hard time.

Our country is definitely going through a hard time right now. Everyday at least 10 people come into my office to apply for our job opening and almost every one of them was laid off. It's heartbreaking. I feel so blessed to have a job that gives my family a place to live, keeps our power on, and keeps food on our table. Luke has a job that allows us to go see my family whenever we have time..we wouldn't be able to afford it otherwise. I really hope and pray that this economy turns around, soon.

3. Our family

Our friends and family are completely amazing. They are there for us whenever we need them. I hate that I'm so far away from my family, but Luke's family truly makes it the best it could be. His mom and dad are just like my own. The rest of his family (aunts, uncles, grandparent, brother and sisters) are more that I ever expected, too. Our little family is growing, too. We have a baby on the way. There are so many people that don't get this opportunity and I hope we never take for granted the love of our children. I can't forget about Tank. I know most people only see the crazy side of my bubs..but he is such a great cuddler. When I'm home alone and a little homesick or if I'm actually sick Tank is just the trick. He will cuddle as long as I want to. And Tank has no sense of personal space so he is just right there, as long as you'll let him be.

We might not have new furniture, a nice tv, dining room chairs (although we might, soon hehe), a new car, or any "extra" money..but we do have the best life anyone could have. We have the purest love there is and soon we will be going through the temple to be sealed. Once we've done that and we have our baby, there is nothing that could make our life any better. I just wish that everyone could find a life like ours.

It's a GIRL!

That's right! After all of Luke's joking about not wanting any girls-Baby #1 is a girl. We are pretty sure anyways, she was very stubborn and did not want her picture taken at all, as you can see in these next few pictures. Just to forewarn you, she is shooting us the bird blocking any decent picture of her in one of the pictures. The ultrasound tech was astonished when she realized she had caught a picture of this. So if this any sign of what our baby is going to be like, we are REALLY going to have our hands full!Luke swears he can see something there, he keeps saying it could just be a late bloomer..and if this is the best picture we could get..maybe she is a he..guess we will find out in a few months. Now here comes the naughty one. She is literally blocking her face by shooting us the bird...hahahahah

Dessert!

This entire pregnancy so far has had me running away from any kind of dessert..until today.I woke up with more than a craving for this dessert my mom made like 8 or 9 years ago. I'm pretty sure it's just famous amos cookies with coolwhip and vanilla pudding with chocolate syrup on top..but I am going to wait till I have the recipe to try it so I'm not dissapointed. It's kind of like oreo cake if you've had that before, but with famous amos.I'm (quite impatiently) waiting on her to return the recipe..wow, this blog will definately be more interesting once there is a baby or digital camera in the house.
