1 Month!

How on earth is Derek already a month old?! Time sure is flying by these days and he's growing so fast. In the last month he's grown 2 lbs and almost 3 inches! He's starting to smile more, has "talked" to us a few times and giggled twice. He loves to cuddle and be swaddled and is very interested in his big sister, Dallace. Sleeping at night is going wonderfully! He only wakes up once or twice for a max of 5-10 minutes, but usually less than 5. We couldn't possibly love this little man any more than we already do!

Too Many Toys.

I realize there have been quite a few posts about Dallace and her crazy sleeping habits, but here's another one because around here they just never get old! Today at naptime I went to check on her and she was not asleep yet because all of her "toys and stories" needed to "sleep-sleep", too.

Derek's Newborn Pictures

Derek's newborn session was a bit challenging to say the least. This little man loves to cuddle with mama, so the idea of taking a few minutes away from mama and being naked while a stranger photographed him, wasn't quite that appealing. However, thanks to the wonderful skills of our photographer we were able to capture some really great shots of this handsome little guy! We had planned on having Dallace in a few shots with him, unfortunately she was a bit over-tired and and REALLY didn't want her picture taken. Here's what we got!

Such a handsome little man! Can't wait to have some family pictures done with our new addition!

Potty Time!

We've tried to not push potty training and wait for Dallace to initiate it. Well, yesterday she finally did! She came up to me and said, "potty?!" (said with the infamous Dallace "yes" head-nod). So, I took her in there and she started to pull down her pants, I helped with her diaper and she got up there and sat for a while and after a minute or so I heard a little trickle! Hopefully this is the beginning of a very (hopefully) short & smooth road of potty training! She's such a big girl!

We are missing a friend or two in these pictures, but these girls sure do like to have fun together!

Cheese!

Dallace is very particular about when she wants her picture taken and while laying down next to Derek she started saying cheese so I sprung into action to try to catch a good pic!

Getting Pretty.

Well, it happened. Dallace figured out that when mommy is feeding Derek she can get away with a lot since I can't jump right up to stop her. Today she found some mascara and got "pretty."
Personally, I happened to like this pretty little face a bit better!

Even when her tongue is the focus this sweet face is so pretty!

Also, we took Derek to Azteca for an impromptu date night on Saturday. This was Luke's "pretty" face.

This was my awesomely "pretty' no make-up with a pony-tail picture. Lucily there's super handsome little Derek in the picture so no one will notice my "prettiness."

4th of July

Dallace had so much fun playing with her cousin this 4th of July!

And dumping water out of the kiddie pool..
And eating hot dogs and cookies..

Little Derek enjoyed being cuddled the entire time. Luke enjoyed the Air Conditioning.

Overall, it was a really laid back 4th-very nice!
Note: we'll have to retake a picture of Derek in his "4th" outfit as he spit up on it while I turned around to grab the camera-Awesome.

Friends + Food = Fun!

Everyone knows one of the perks of having a new baby is people wanting to bribe you with food for a turn to hold him/her. We've thoroughly enjoyed that part over the last week or so! The other night some of our friends, Chris & Erin Bush (and their 3 boys) came over with some yummy food and play time. Dallace was infatuated with Peyton, their oldest boy. She was more than willing to try to get a picture with him..he didn't quite feel the same!

Attempt #1

Attempt #2 Getting closer!

Attempt #3 Success!
This is Brennan-He's SUCH a chunk and a sweetheart!
Somehow, we missed Easton in the pictures but he's just as handsome as the other two boys!
Dallace can't wait for them to come play again, soon!

Love These Kiddos!

I sure do love this crazy little girl!

Little, Snuggly Derek isn't too shabby either!

Dallace is TWO!

It's more than a little crazy to think Dallace is already 2! She's such a sweet little girl and definitely a little crazy and rowdy sometimes! Her birthday this year was a little lost in the shuffle since we were at the hospital during it. Luckily, we were still able to squeeze in some cake and family time. This is how here 2nd Birthday went.
Balloons and cupcakes over at Grandma and Grandpa's.

Me trying to teach her that she's no longer one, she's two.

...Still working on that.

Her doing a lot of her favorite thing-sticking her tongue out to lick something/someone.

This is after running away from the table and terrifying "Happy" Birthday song incident.

This is the "incident."

Finally, she did calm down and kept all of us very interested in an in depth conversation about Toy Story. There was a lot of "Oh-no's" and talk about Buzz.
Happy Birthday, Dallace! You will always be our Baby D!

Derek Adam Watson

He's finally here! Derek made his grand appearance on June 23, 2011. This is also Dallace's birthday (2009) and they were SO close to being exactly 2 years apart down to the minute (Derek was born at 7:19 a.m. and Dallace at 6:18 a.m.). Here's how the birth went down.

6:25 p.m. (June 22) arrived at Kadlec to be induced
8:15 p.m. Dr. Mulholland came in to put the cytotec, well, up there.
9:15 p.m. Julie and Tasha arrived to hang out for a while and take my mind off the wonderfully strong contractions caused by the cytotec.

Midnight Dr. Mulholland came back in to check for progress I had gone from a barely 2 to a 3-4 which is where I needed to be to have him break my water, get my epidural and start pitocin.
1:00 a.m. Enter Anesthesiologist
1:15 a.m. I was one super happy lady!
3:30 a.m. I entered the "transition" stage. That stage of labor between 7-9 centimeters where the contractions cause shaking and nausea/vomitting. AWESOME. Also awesome at this point the nurse asked if Dallace had the cord wrapped around her neck because by looking at the contractions they could tell Derek was face up and that usually means cord around the neck.
6:00 a.m. starting to feel some pressure so we check and I was at a 9
7:00 a.m. let's start pushing
7:19 a.m. Derek showed himself face up, pooping on Dr. Mulholland (Derek, not me-hahaha). And Julie cut the cord (Luke had a little harder time this time around with the whole birth process.)Dr. Mulholland and Derek

No tearing or stitching required. Yay! He was face up with the cord around his neck which was a little off-putting for sure, but he was opening and closing his eyes so I knew he was fine. I didn't get to hold him for about 20 minutes which was hands down the LONGEST 20 minutes of my entire life. Luckily I had Tasha taking pictures and bringing them across the room to me for me to see him. He is such a good baby and we are so blessed to have him as a part of our family!
